The HK workshop was a great success! More importantly I learnt new things. My co-facilitator always asked ourselves to do first openly for whatever we asked the learners to do. For example, we role-played a coaching conversation on our personal real issue before getting the learners to do it.
This makes so much sense. I like it. It first illustrates the activity instruction well with a live example. Secondly, it adds to the facilitator’s creditability and authenticity. The facilitator gets to disclose more about himself or herself and thus strengthen the rapport with the learners. Lastly, it is edgy to the facilitator and thus makes him / her ‘participate’ better into the workshop.
We say facilitator should treat self as a tool. This is such a great example!
